The firm’s elder law attorney, Elizabeth Allen, donated five lap quilts that she made to LifePath Hospice of Hillsborough County. Liz has been quilting as a hobby for years. A couple of years ago she found out that LifePath Hospice provides blankets and quilts to its clients to help with treatment during this difficult time in their lives and as a keepsake for families after the loved one has passed. Liz donated several home-made quilts last year. As an elder law attorney, she has clients that are or will be on hospice and has seen the toll on all involved.
“I wanted to help in some little way. It’s nice to know that the quilt will hopefully bring comfort not only to the person now but to the family in the future since it will be with them after the ordeal is over.” Four of the quilts donated this year were specifically made with kids in mind. “I was reminded that kids are on hospice too. I really wanted to try to bring a little fun to a child who’s in an otherwise heartbreaking situation.”
Liz hopes to make her home-made quilt donations a yearly project.
